Abstract

Mass customization aims to deliver customized products with near mass production efficiency. It has gained much attention from both academia and industry since its emergence. The paradigm of mass customization is imperative for many companies to survive in the fragmented, diversified, and competitive marketplace. This survey gives an introduction to mass customization from the perspectives of design for mass customization, design for personalization and point out some future directions for the development of mass customization.
