Abstract

e-ManufacturingTM means the fast, flexible and cost effective production directly from 3D CAD data files. Laser-sintering is a very efficient way of making e-Manufacturing reality, because the 3D CAD can directly be feed into a laser-sintering machine. This makes laser-sintering an extremely attractive mode of production for companies that highly customize their products. While the customer can design the desired product in an internet-based tool-kit or configurator, the company can take the electronic data directly to the laser-sintering system where the individual product is build in a cost effective manner. This makes laser-sintering the ideal mode of production in a mass customization business environment.
